I hope you all are good and doing well. Today I'm here to be a part of this amazing contest SLC S-30-W2// "Tradional Steam Cooking-Raagi Puttu(Steamed Finger Millet Cake)" organized by @jyoti-thelight . Through this contest I'm learning steam cooking that i have never tried before. Today when I started to plan making this unique steam cake I was confused how steam can give a flour to a cake texture but my experience was quite good. This is a healthy option to make different delicious recipes.
Let's start today's contest;
List the steamed dishes made in your region. Which one is your favorite and why? (2 Marks)
In my region steamed dishes are not very common at my home but they are made here and some are very popular. Those who loves light food and choose healthy food they like steam food. Some popular examples of Steamed dishes are momos , Steamed fish, Steamed chicken, Steamed potatoes, and dumplings.
I love Steamed chicken alot because I'm a chicken lover and love to try new recipes. I like this recipe because its light , soft and juicy, all spices and coating after steam makes chicken perfect to enjoy. You can eat thos chicken without worrying of high calories.
Make the Raagi Puttu(Steamed Finger Millet Cake) that is shared in the course or make it as per your style, with a detailed step-by-step procedure along with images. (5 Marks)
I'm following the same recipe thatvis given in the contest to make the raggi Puttu.

| Raggi flour | 2cups |
| Sugar | 2tbsp |
| Cardamom | 2 pods |
| Salt | as per taste |
| Grated coconut | as required |
STEP 1:
Take 1 cups of raggi flour, put it in a pan and roast it on low flame.

STEP 2:
Put the roasted ragi flour in a bowl, add some salt, add water little by little and knead it well with your palms. While mixing, the flour should not be lumpy, that is, it should form a ball when pressed in your hand.

STEP 3:
| Now Pour water into the vessel of steamer and bring to a boil. | ![]() |

STEP 4:
Take a pan of steamer that has wholes , spread a cotton cloth on it and spread the mixed dough on it. Then take it out and put it in a pot of boiling water, cover it and steam it for 15 minutes.

STEP 5:
Steam the dough for 15 After 15 minutes, open the oven, take out the plate, and transfer the dough that is still steaming on the cloth to a plate.

STEP 6:
| Take two cardamom pods, grind them , add the powder to the flour on the plate and mix. | ![]() |

STEP 7:
Take grated coconut and shower on the boiled dough.Now add 2 table spoons of sugar and grated coconut to the boiled dough and mix well.

STEP 8:
Now, give this dough a shape of cake by pressing this mixture well in a bowl and transfer it to a plate and place it like a cake.
Now the steam cooked Raagi Puttu(Steamed Finger Millet Cake) is ready to serve.
