[TV Discovery] Limmy's Show!
Prepare to have your fourth wall completely demolished with the surreal world of Limmy. Limmy's Show! is a Scottish BBC comedy sketch show, written and directed by Limmy (Brian Limond) and I'm fairly sure this is one most of you won't have seen before. Before we start, it's probably fair to say you're gonna struggle with the accent. I do, and I've watched the show half a dozen times and I'm fairly familiar with Scottish accents.
But if you can get through that, and you have a taste for the absurd, then you're gonna love this. The show itself is a mix of different character-based sketches, mixed with observational, absurd and sometimes dark skits. Even now after so many viewing it has me laughing out loud at some of the surreal sequences that unravel before my eyes. I'm going to start you off with one of my favourite sketches and characters; Dee-Dee on the Moon.
Still here? Good, but I get it if you're scratching your head trying to figure out what he was saying. Bieber damn that sketch cracks me up. Reminds me of my student days... The sketch Larry Forsyth Experiments is another great one to look out for if you give the show a go, and you can find at least the first season on YouTube, or I believe they're also on Netflix.
Limmy started life with a podcast called Limmy's World of Glasgow which featured many of the recurring characters he later fleshed out for Limmy's Show! He then created a pilot after the success of his live performances, and the show was commissioned by BBC Scotland. Three series and a christmas special were created in total, and he was quite adamant that he didn't want to make anymore episodes after that even though there was substantial demand for them, especially from the cult following the show had amassed. He did try to pitch a show based around the character from the last sketch I've included with this post, Falconhoof (or "Ped"), but it was rejected and I can understand why. Although he is one of my favourite characters, I struggle to see him being able to carry an entire show.
I'd love to see Limmy do more similar sketches for YouTube, which he had promised at one point, but I think he's been busy with other projects. He had a pretty good run on the former popular 5-second video sharing site Vine, which I refused to acknowledge as a real thing until its closure.
If you managed to get over the language barrier, what did you think of the two sketches I've included with this post? Think you could give it a watch? Let me know your thoughts and feelings down below, and I'll see you in the comments (I can probably help translate if you need any help). As always, make sure to follow me for the latest Technology, Internet and Pop Culture updates and if you're a fan of strange/interesting YouTube videos, you might want to follow me on Twitter.
Oh, and as a side note, I'm trying to get a new tag started; #tvdiscovery so if you write posts about shows you enjoy and others might too, then add the #tvdiscovery tag to your posts. I'll be keeping an eye on the tag for new content, so expect a helping hand if you do join. Until we meet again, take it easy!

Omg that accent! I remember encountering it in the wild when I was traveling the UK and I was just as confused then... I liked the second one more but go figure, I'm a nerd 😜 It's pretty odd stuff.
Hmm, I like your new tag idea. I've been binge watching queer web series recently and have come across some real gems, so I might write up a post about those for the tag. Thanks for sharing these
I love it, ever since I read and watched Trainspotting I've been adamant I'll understand it.
Thank you! That's a great idea, the more stuff under the tag the better. I'm hoping to setup an account this week with @thundercurator so that any posts submitted to that tag will receive a free curation. I'll post when that's active
