Antisemitism is a Useless Word + blue dots
I decided to play the blue dot game on x.
The game works as follows. Users pay $8 per month to play. A portion of the money goes into a rewards pool. X will pay out of the pool depending on the number of blue dot impressions an account receives.
The game is notoriously regressive. To qualify for a blue dot, one needs to have 500 blue dot subscribers.
The first qualification is easy to meet as people with blue dots are happy to follow back blue dot followers. If you follow a thousand blue dot accounts, it is likely that you will get 500 reciprocal followers.
The second qualification is that one needs to have 5 million impressions over a three month period. You can get impressions by dropping snarky comments on popular posts.
I am 20 days into my blue dot experience. I've dropped 616 posts and received 251,292 impressions. This is far from the five million impressions that I need to get a payout.
My understanding is that only about 10% of blue dot accounts qualify for payouts. Most of the money goes to celebrities.
The system is far too regressive for my tastes.
Blue Dot Articles
Owners of blue dots are allowed to write long form articles. My long form articles will focus on themes related to modern discourse.
For example, I just penned an article stating that The Term "Antisemitic" is Useless. The theme of the article is that I want to take a stand against antisemitism. This stand involves a double negative. It is impossible to defend a double negative. Does opposition to antisemitism mean that I must support things like Zionism.
I dug into the history of the term "semite." This term was coined by racist professors in Germany who claimed that there was an ancient conflict between the Aryans and Semite. The term Semite referred to anyone who spoke a middle eastern language such as Aramaic, Arabic or Hebrew.
Is criticizing radical Islam antisemitic? The ongoing conflicts in the Middle East often involve one Semitic group against another.
The term "antisemitic" does not have the desired effect of reducing racial violence. It has the reverse effect of drawing people into conflict.
A second article points out that the Democratic Party is using the same techniques that they were using in the Antebellum South. A third article examines how the King James Bible removed the term tyranny.
The articles are designed to get people to question underlying assumptions in the culture war.
This type of article does not do well on SteemIt. Since X encourages interaction, I hope that they will fare better on the platform.

My articles never did well on SteemIt. I will continue to curate steemit posts. Feel free to follow me on x. I follow back.
