Every year there's an unhinged Amiga party that has become the goto place for the poorest and the rich ... Revision, due to its commercial success its more or less gained the title of "number 1 demoparty" but actually it's an unhinged amiga party with a lot of bias so its kinda rare to see Atari or ST stuff there for one thing BUT due to the prestige (and i bet there's some kind of money reward) in scene-land most bigger crews or ivory tower wizards ( Gargaj ? et al .. ) will hold their best for this event. If you get number one at Revision your name for the year (and probably years to come is set) its a bit like an Oscar i guess ... probably sold out too (sometimes ..?) you know how it goes once prestige and money gets involved.
That said, since we have never been part of "the" scene, none of those things really matter here. We just very much like demos and creations that show use of a machine in ways you never thought of or just simply pure art
Like this one ? this must be the most creative use of cubes ive ever seen i think .. i havent seen all demos since we got in back late there after having a few lives disconnected and AFK .... but i dang dun seen a lot since.
Obviously in a competitive environment with a lot of intelligent AND creative people who are both at once you can imagine a certain level of narcissism is involved, which goes for the organizers too, the bigger your party the bigger your head name is and in some way it becomes even a privilege to have your stuff featured. Im not sure if its still the case but plenty of parties and definitely Revision REQUIRED you to buy a ticket (which probably cost more than €20) before you're even allowed to submit something.
Fuckers come from all across europe to watch demos
... there's obviously no drugs on the scene, officer, its all 50 year old programmers, these people couldn't possibly code while being drunk or high
and its quite a big party then ...
You think im tearing it down but im not, i think our assessment is fairly accurate there, so ... not much time today , the Amiga winner , by our standards, belongs in the fantasy console department but it deserves good marks for direction and sound alone , and we quickly checked the PC winner
looks like a good choice too , the prob with these HI-end demoez is
You can watch it on youtube but you get a lo-fi version there. Something thats built to run at 4k or 8k u-hd-r doesnt come out perfectly well on youtube and
for instance here, we got stuck on a 3070 nvidia (after that no more money for gpus has been available really) and we browse on a pi5 .. hi end demos wont run and hi end modern webgl wont run on the pi either
so its youtube
BUT THATS
at least youtube has one use left that makes it worth opening other than for some retro and fpga news
personal example (we only started programming again on and off like after covid or something when we bought that c64 because we NEEDED to hear the real sound as all sidplayers and vice seemed to sound differently so it will take a good 40 years to catch up to Fairlight and TRSI and the likes ...)
so there's not much and

its not a Revision-winner for sure lol but thats fine, we never submitted one thing ever and off all the music never wrote a studio or anything either since the 90s .
Its just to show
how even this low-end 4k u-hd-r won't show properly in a youtube vid. The parts where it shows most is the "JoGfield" starfield explosion and the finale where the reverse connected field slowly goes to "FIN" if you run it on a 4k uhd screen you'll see how many dots you're missing lol
made for lul and nothing else like all the rest, not to be the best (tho we're quite sure we're not the worst) "cracktro-style with an intro"
actually this was "Oh we never did a starfield the old way" you know today you just go like CreateParticles(x,y,z) and boom !
so this one is the math, with some sinewaves added to bob the camera and this gigercounter sound when a bubble pops "on the screen" / FoV of the cam and some extra screens
coding for lul
beats watching telly
in a few years if the QoD coefficient keeps dropping
maybe we can win revision too hahah
certainly could a few of the other parties looking at the last 3 years
anywayzuh
its compiled for linux only this one (thats rare enough) the demo featured can be downloaded for linux, mac AND USA-DOS
....
its time, isnt it ...
yes, in belgium everything's GREAT, i can see that because everyone has a nice car so its all fine .. we havent checked "the world" since last sunday
i think one beat of the divine heart is enough time between ... we'll see tomorrow if that gaza thing the media portrayed as a done deal while there was nothing on the table yet
is actually standing 7 days later (we dont know shit since last sunday, not about the american civil war, not about ukraine, not about Gaza ... and the rest of the world is nothing happening, right ? COOL !)
and frankly my dear considering what they have as a newyears present
we have a hard time caring
