The 1995-96 Champions League was the 41th version of this tournament, and the fourth season where the name of the tournament was changed from “European Cup” to “UEFA Champions League”. It was held between 13 September 1995 and 22 May 1996.

24 clubs competed in the tournament. 61 matches were played with 159 goals scored. An average of 2.61 goals per match.

Four clubs were able to qualify to the semi-finals; Panathinaikos, Ajax, Juventus and Nantes.

The final game of the tournament was held in Stadio Olimpico, Rome, in 22 May 1996 between Ajax and Juventus. The Italian club was able to win the the final game in penalties 4-2 after the final game ended with a score 1-1. It was the second European title for Italian giants and champions Juventus.

“Jari Litamen” from Ajax was named the top goalscorer of the tournament, scoring 9 goals each one of them in the 1995-1996 UEFA Champions League.
