Britain joins CPTPP

Britain's accession to the CPTPP trading block came into force today (15th December 2024).

Including Britain, it's 12 countries, 500 million people, 30% of global GDP and within a decade will represent 50% of the world's middle classes. It allows trade in services (EU does not have a single market in services). But we don't have to pay money to be part of it, and there is no Free Movement.

In other words, it's the kind of trading bloc Britain likes.
