ULOG (HOWTO): Graft Mango For High Yielding Fruit. ( Contd.)
Hello all, its a saturday here, the day has been exciting and full of activities.
We made use of our botanical insecticides on the okra plants. The plots were divided into 4 blocks in which synthetic insecticide will be sprayed in a block, pawpaw and neem leaves extracted insecticides will be sprayed in two other blocks and then a control block where no insecticide will be sprayed.
With these, we will be able to determine which of the insecticides is more effective on the insects affecting the okra plants over time.
After this, we continued with the grafting process of our mango tree plant.
Yesterday, i showed us the plant we will be grafting on. The next stage is to slice out the fleshy part of the plant stem like below
After this, a fleshy part of the stem from the desired plant which is know as the "budding wood" is also sliced in a way it will allow it to be joined with the stock plant.
The budding /grafting wood is then joined with the stock plant as shown below.
The two will then be fasten with a nylon in other to fuse them well.
The plant will then be monitored to see if the budding / grafting wood will sprout out new leaves from the tip.
Updates on it progress will be shared as time goes on, thank you.w
