After I got married, my husband and I lived 1200 miles away from my parents, and I missed them very much. That was long before home computers and cell phones, so I didn't get to talk with them often. We wrote letters instead. Fortunately, my husband was willing to make the drive to see them when he had vacation, and we went nearly every year. I treasure the memories of those times spent with them.
