Reflections

The song seems to be about the relationship between a parent and a child wherein the parent sees their own childhood in their treasured child. The parent also finds the same level of comfort that they did as a child when they remember their own childhood through their own child and the way their child feels comfortable around them.
Naturally, as a result, they want to protect the child, and in turn, protect their own feelings and memories of innocence and make sure that their child has to suffer no pain. The parent, however, realises that the child would need pain in order to grow and contemplates about these conflicting feelings towards the end of the song.
