The resurrection of Christ has a purpose
"Because Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring us to God." He was killed in the body, but quickened by the Spirit (1 Peter 3:18)
God accompanies man in his history. God directs history and, nevertheless, allows man to maintain a free space, in which he can decide for or against God. From the beginning man decided to be against God, because he wants to be equal to God. He wants to be his own lord. The Bible calls this sin the enmity of man against God. A deep chasm formed between God and man. Separated from God, the person continues to sin and with that, moving further away from God. Being separated from God, man is the most miserable and worthy of sorrow that exists under heaven. Being separated from God, man is only a living dead, eternally lost.
How will it be possible to overcome this "disease", that ruin before sin, death and perdition, before ephemerity and "nothing"? From the person himself? Impossible! Many times the person does not get or maintain a lasting relationship with their neighbor. - So, the answer is that it must be from God!
In fact, God overcame the gap between us and him. He sent his son Jesus Christ into the world. He came to our address. He came to us. Our guilt, however, is so immense that a simple handshake is not enough for reconciliation. The just punishment for our guilt is death. However, in his love, God does not want our death. He walked the only horrible way, but at the same time wonderful: he allowed his Son to die in our place. On the cross of Golgotha, which should be our place, Jesus was hanging by us. His death was our death. On the cross there was the reconciliation of God with humanity that had moved away from him.
Now each person has the possibility to claim for himself that reconciliation. It is possible to continue rejecting God and thus remain separate from him, like a living dead. Or it is possible to accept the offering of God in order to become a living person, rescued from death. This is the mystery of faith.
Dear parishioners
Happy Sunday of resurrection
"To be a Christian is to be a witness to the resurrection of Jesus, and it also means overcoming poverty, which is death, something inhuman, contrary to the will of God. If poverty is contrary to the will of God's life, fighting against poverty is a way of saying yes to the kingdom of God. "
