Unity with Jesus: For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. Romans 14:7

The apostle Paul wrote the letter to the Church of Rome after completing his third missionary journey, and in this text, the apostle left valuable teachings that clearly show his theological thinking.
And the apostle, among other things, emphasized the unity with Jesus that every Christian has through the sacrament of baptism, and in the recognition of this fact lies the consciousness of Christ. This is why the apostle of the Gentiles taught in his letter to the new believers: "When we were baptized, we died and were buried with Christ. We were baptized, so we would live a new life, as Christ was raised to life by the glory of God the Father" Romans 6:4. The apostle expressed this truth taking into account his vast experience gained during his three missionary journeys, where conversions to the faith were many, and the new Churches bore witness to a social change.
This spiritual teaching then raises a question: what does this new life in Jesus consist of? And the answer is very simple: with baptism, error ceases to be a habit and a custom and becomes an exception, because entering the Kingdom of God means being precise and accurate in everything is done. In practical terms, this is what the union with Christ consists of, because the kingdom of God, the dominion or government of the divine perfections, is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).
And so for Paul, with the baptism and the union with the Lord, the christian life acquires a new spiritual meaning; that is why the apostle also expressed with wisdom: "For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone" Romans 14:7. To live for Christ and through Christ, the apostle expressed, this is the true spiritual change. The sacrament of baptism involves abandoning what binds man to the apparent goods, such as happiness, and seeking what is most valuable, the closeness to the wisdom of God, or in other words, to be reborn to see the world through the eyes of the Lord. This is how the believer dies to sin and is resurrected to the new life to which every Christian is called. Baptism ultimately brings with it a new level of awareness, to be like Christ in every act of one's life.
