This is a weekly, semi-automated post where I will show some statistics and graphs of the development category. It will also serve as a showcase for the staff picks and task requests that were made in the current week. If you have any suggestions or things you'd like to see in this post, then please let me know!

FPL Plus 0.6.0 - Complete popup revamp! by @amosbastian

It's my own contribution, and I promise I didn't pick it myself! I'll just leave the description of it made by @knowledges here: the contribution is to a browser extension for the Fantasy Premier League owned and maintained by @amosbastian who is one of our active community managers. The contribution contains several development efforts to improve a lot of thing on the UI, and a complete revamp of some features. The code is clean and very well documented which will make easy for an external contributor easily understand and contribute if they want to.

Coding the TravelFeed dApp: The Frontend Preview is Online! by @jpphotography

TravelFeed is the largest travel community on the Steem Blockchain. On TravelFeed, you can discover great travel content by hundreds of independent travellers. After a lot of hard work from @jpphotography (learning everything from scratch!) their frontend is finally online! It was written in JavaScript using the React library, the Next.js framework and an Express server. The user interface and design was created by using Material-UI React components and Bootstrap 4.

STONEm Front-end Development Update: Add Wallets Screen. by @creatrixity

In this contribution @creatrixity described how he implemented the “add wallets” screen for STONEm’s frontend. He has done a great job explaining the challenges he faced and how he solved them, while also highlighting good development practices which could be useful for others!

Number of contributions per weekday

weekly_number_contributions.png

As you can see, Wednesday was the day with the most activity in the development category. I wonder why... Monday had the least activity in the entire week, so if you are scared of competition then this is the day to contribute!

Average score, reward (STU) and time before review (hours) per week

weekly_overview.png
Time before review is the number of hours between the creation of the post and the time it is reviewed by a moderator.

The average score of contributions has gone up from 65.5 to 68.3 this week, which is a good indication that the quality of contributions has also gone up! The average reward, just like the average score, has also gone up (from 29.6 STU to 52.3 STU), which is of course great for our contributors. Lastly, the number of hours it takes for us to get to a contribution and review it (on average) has gone up a lot from 12.4 hours to 17.0 hours. We're nearing Christmas, so to me this should be expected.

Number of contributions reviewed per week

weekly_reviewed.png

As you can see, the weekly number of reviews is up from 25 to 31! This seems to be following a trend, as the number of contributions over the last two weeks (56) is also up compared to the two weeks prior to that (51)! Maybe the increase of the maximum weight of the category from 55% to 70% is already having a positive influence on the number of contributions?

Contributors

Number of unique contributors per week

With the number of reviews going up this week it's obviously not that surprising that the number of unique contributors has also gone up a bit from 19 to 26 this week, which is really great to see!

Moderators

  • @codingdefined reviewed 4 contributions with an average score of 66.8.
  • @emrebeyler reviewed 7 contributions with an average score of 57.0.
  • @helo reviewed 15 contributions with an average score of 73.4.
  • @justyy reviewed 1 contribution with an average score of 76.0.

As you can see @helo is by far the most active moderator, whereas I personally haven't reviewed anything other than task requests this week. Every time I check the spreadsheet to see if there is anything to review, everything already seems to be taken, haha. I'm not sure what has changed, because this is really a recent development. With the increase of the moderator rewards I will have to step up my game to get the chance to review anything at all it seems!

Number of reviews per weekday

weekly_number_reviews.png

As you can see, Wednesday was the day where we reviewed the most contributions in the development category. This is also the day we received the most contributions, so that's probably the reason why. Saturday was the day where we reviewed the least. I'm sorry if you submitted your contribution on that day and had to wait a while for your review! Despite being programmers we surprisingly still have lives, so this happening in the weekend shouldn't be that surprising (hopefully).

Development Task Request - A mobile, desktop and website App with the same code for the Verto Wallet from Volentix by @helo

Our very own @helo is looking for a developer who can lay the ground work for a website, and mobile version for iOS and Android, of Verto, which is a multi-currency wallet that will allow access to the VDex. They already have the code to build the desktop version, so the solver should use the same Vue.js code for the other versions!

Task Request: Steem Apps - Discord Bot Development by @therealwolf

Steem Apps is a project which is collecting data of apps on Steem and displaying it in a ranking, to showcase the power and usage of Steem and its apps. They are looking for someone to create a Discord bot, which will display useful data and statistics from Steem Apps when needed. @petertag has already volunteered for this task request, but if you can think you can still help out, it might be worth checking it out!

  • JavaScript / TypeScript

Also, if you think there is anything that can be worded more clearly, then please let me know!

Thank you for this extensive overview. It's well-written and greatly informative. Apart from being a regular weekly report, reading through was entertaining. Your exuberance is refreshing:)
It's great to see an increase in the inflow of quality contributions to the category this week. Also, I appreciate your effort and every active moderator.
Have a great week!

Please note that while the CM hasn't changed the footer, I am not scoring #iamutopian posts based on the questionnaire. They have their own metric, and that will be the case until we go live with the new guidelines and new questionnaire, which will be comprehensive enough to reflect these types of posts.

Your contribution has been evaluated according to Utopian policies and guidelines, as well as a predefined set of questions pertaining to the category.
