SteemMakers bot has been fixed - voting resumed
Ugh. As a developer nothing feels more stupid than finding an issue in the code just before the release. We've been working on the SteemMakers bot for a while. It has been tested, redesigned and retested. It has been running fine for a while but the other day we got struck by another not so obvious bug.
Issue with some account names
Simply put we could not use the functions provided by steemit.com in their javascript library. We reported the bug. Let's hope nobody else needs to run into it and steemit fixes it soon. We're not waiting for that and pro-actively made our own bypass.
By accident we found that the bot could not comment on this excellent post by @diana.catherine. The problem was related to the dot in her account name. It took quite some digging to find the root cause and this learned that the dot was not the only possible issue. We did some extra testing to be sure to have this fixed correctly. Now we can be sure that the bot can vote on all steem makers blog post, we don't want to leave anyone out just because of a dot in their account name.
