Not to discourage you, this option is already available in steemit.com. You can see a small text link 'Editor' above the post textarea. Once you start typing then it disappears(may be for a reason?).

Screenshot about where to find 'Editor' link in steemit.com:

After clicking the 'Editor' link:

    Thanks @lifecruiser quite interesting stuff...refer image 1 there is no such option of editor or markdown aopearing...took me by surprise u r getting m not....needed to investigate further

      Yes you are right, if there is some content in the text box then the 'Editor' link disappear. You can check when you go to 'post' and before writing any text in the box.
