Under the Victorian Energy Upgrade Program, Victorian Government provides an incentive. The purpose of that incentive is to make local housing and business premises more energy efficient. This is the ‘Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Scheme’ or the VEET Scheme, also known as the Energy Saver Incentive (ESI).

The Essential Services Commission operates the Scheme. This program is settled and running under the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Act 2007 (the Act). The Scheme started its journey on 1st January 2009.

The Scheme is constituted to move ahead in three-year phases. Moreover, the Scheme’s target has to renew is the beginning of each new phase and have to set a new target. The Act regulates the process prior to each phase.

Business Can Do With VEET

• Registered Business can offer discounts on energy saving products
• For selected products, accredited sellers can provide special offers

In addition, the money the accredited business makes from selling its certificates can go towards a discount on the product or appliance installed.

The Cost-Benefit of VEET

For the VEET Scheme, a cost-benefit analysis (CBA) reported that a net worth of $177.6 million is added to the economy.

What is VEEC

This is Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificate. An Accredited Person can create a VEET Certificate.

To create the Certificate, there are three methods
• Forward creation method using a normal year energy savings
• Annual creation method using measured annual energy savings
• Forward creation with 'top up' method, which uses forward creation, followed by the annual creation method.

At 23rd March 2018, the Commission assesses the processing time for VEECs. It’s distributed among Prior scope planning and the project planning. Projects can vary greatly in order to scale and complexity. Moreover, each individual project is likely to have a unique assessment.

There are a number of institutes in different sectors has the VEET accreditation. Following list has a couple of companies that can create the Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificate under the VEET Scheme-

Neither the Commission endorses any products, nor it carries any liability for the products. Under the Commission’s approval, an accredited personnel or APs can register the products. The Scheme works along with a free market policy. That’s why keeping a single value for all types of products is not feasible. So, consumers must shop around.

The Future of VEET

VEET has already done a significant amount of reduction in energy usages. Not only that, the Scheme has reduced the peak energy demand and gradually making a market transformation for the energy sector. For more information, the Victorian Government maintains a particular website. Energy consumers must avail the opportunity and get the most out of the scheme.
