RE: What are we made to eat: We are Omnivores not Carnivores!

in #vegan6 years ago

In evolutionary terms, humans were herbivores and likely insectivores. Eating meat and dairy products is a cultural adaption. As is pointed out, humans do not eat much meat without cooking it first to make it more digestible. True carnivores can eat slightly rancid meats due to the acidity of their digestive systems.

Sort:

Yeah there are many similarities to herbivores, frugivores, insectivores and we also scavenged some I guess.
This would make us some sort of omnivore i´d say, just like or predecessors, apes and monkeys even if they eat most vegan food, they can digest meat and insects, making the omnivores, but the further back we go, the less meat we ate I am sure! To bad it is impossible for us to digest grass or many leaves, otherwise we could be pure herbivores :)

Yeah scavangers have very low pH to fight of bacteria and viruses, meat is not safe for us to consume in the wild, gotta be super fresh prior to learning cooking meat at least.
