The most reliable vehicle in the Atlas mountains: the mule

In last week's 3 day hiking expedition in Morocco, we brought along our own food, water & blankets for the 5 of us since there is absolutely nothing in the desert mountains of Morocco. Life is very simple out there, water is scarce and nights are extremely chilly, with temperatures dropping down to zero degrees. This adorable mule was our vehicle through the Atlas mountains. She was healthy and well taken care of - we made sure of that!

The funniest thing that happened along the way was running into a berber man, whose brand new motorbike had given up in the middle of the desert, on an old river bed (this was the last thing in this world that I could have ever imagined to find in this remote and poor area). The motorcycle was still partially wrapped in its original plastic... (see last picture). We stopped to help him but after an hour of trying to figure out what was wrong with the motorbike, we had say to say goodbye and leave him behind. We were certain that our beloved mule was the most reliable vehicle out there in the Atlas mountains at 2,200m high :)
