Hemos llegado a la edición 167 de "Arte y Escritura", y para esta el invitado es Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro:

Este distinguido pintor nació en Lisboa, el 21 de noviembre de 1857. Pertenecía a una familia de artistas. Su padre era el pintor y escultor Manuel Bordalo Pinheiro. Sus hermanos también se dedicaron a la pintura.

Su primera formación como artista plástico la recibió en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Lisboa. Luego amplió su formación en París, gracias a una beca recibida de parte del rey Fernando II de Portugal.

En París participó en el Salón de París del año 1882 con la obra "Una velada en su casa", la cual fue muy apreciada por la crítica de arte de entonces.

Regresó a Portugal y formó parte del "Grupo León", una comunidad de intelectuales que deseaba renovar el arte de la época en Portugal.

En el año 1901 trabajó como profesor de pintura histórica en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Lisboa, y en el año 1914 fue designado Director del Museo de Chiado.

Falleció el 6 de noviembre de 1929, en Lisboa, a los 71 años.

This distinguished painter was born in Lisbon, on November 21, 1857. He belonged to a family of artists. His father was the painter and sculptor Manuel Bordalo Pinheiro. His brothers also dedicated themselves to painting.

He received his initial training as a visual artist at the Lisbon Academy of Fine Arts. He later expanded his studies in Paris, thanks to a scholarship from King Ferdinand II of Portugal.

In Paris, he participated in the 1882 Paris Salon with the work "An Evening at His Home," which was highly praised by art critics of the time.

He returned to Portugal and became part of the "León Group," a community of intellectuals who wished to renew the art of the time in Portugal.

In 1901, he worked as a professor of historical painting at the Lisbon Academy of Fine Arts, and in 1914 he was appointed Director of the Chiado Museum.

He died on November 6, 1929, in Lisbon, at the age of 71.
