WHY DO YOU JUDGE YOUR BROTHER?
“BUT WHY DO YOU JUDGE YOUR BROTHER? OR WHY DO YOU
SHOW CONTEMPT FOR YOUR BROTHER? For we shall all stand
before the judgment seat of Christ.”
Romans 14:10 (NKJV)
Whoever judges other believers, yet claimed to be a believer, is a shallow and immature person. In this time of social media, you see a lot of people saying dirty things, what ought not to be said about fellow believers or ministers. You see one minister denigrating
another minister, those who claimed to be Christian bloggers or faith-based content creators trying to attack a minister, saying derogatory things about the minister and his work—ministry.
Every idle word spoken by anyone would be accounted for:
35 A GOOD MAN OUT OF THE GOOD TREASURE OF HIS HEART BRINGS FORTH GOOD THINGS, AND AN EVIL MAN OUT OF THE EVIL TREASURE BRINGS FORTH EVIL THINGS. 36 BUT I SAY TO YOU THAT FOR EVERY IDLE WORD MEN MAY SPEAK, THEY WILL GIVE ACCOUNT OF IT IN THE DAY OF JUDGMENT. 37 FOR BY YOUR WORDS YOU WILL BE JUSTIFIED, AND BY YOUR WORDS YOU WILL BE CONDEMNED" " (Matthew 12:35-37 NKJV).
A believer should tame his or her tongue. The Scripture says: "SO
THEN, MY BELOVED BRETHREN, LET EVERY MAN BE SWIFT TO HEAR, SLOW TO SPEAK, SLOW TO WRATH" (James 1:19 NKJV).
Note and ponder on these:
a. When you talk too much you tend to commit sins through your words:
"IN THE MULTITUDE OF WORDS SIN IS NOT LACKING, BUT HE WHO RESTRAINS HIS LIPS IS WISE" (Proverbs 10:19 NKJV).
b. Whoever does not sin in words can control his or her whole body:
"FOR WE ALL STUMBLE IN MANY THINGS. IF ANYONE DOES NOT
STUMBLE IN WORD, HE IS A PERFECT [complete in growth—mental and moral character] MAN, ABLE ALSO TO BRIDLE THE WHOLE BODY" (James 3:2 NKJV).
The question asked in our text; the passage of the Bible: "WHY DO YOU JUDGE YOUR BROTHER? OR WHY DO YOU SHOW CONTEMPT FOR YOUR BROTHER? FOR WE SHALL ALL STAND BEFORE THE JUDGEMENT SEAT OF CHRIST."
It simply says you do not have the right to speak ill of others—badmouth others. Even in correcting the work of other believers or ministers, no one is given such assignment.
You teach the Bible and leave the corrections of other believers or ministers to God who called and assigned them. You have only one major assignment, and that is the teaching or preaching of the Word of God—the Bible. Leave the result of whatever you preach or teach to God. You do not need to call out other ministers to correct them.
There is no one God has revealed how the church of Christ Jesus should be built or would be built globally. If ministers are erred leave them and let God correct them. If the church of Christ Jesus is going in a direction which you think, or it seems, it would crash; you leave it, since you are not the builder but Jesus Christ—let Him build His church in the pattern that seems to be the best to Him (Matthew 16:18).
