THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
MONDAY 21
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Matthew 5:14 (NKJV)

Believers in our text are said to be the light of the world. It says a city sets on a hill cannot be hidden. In other words, being a light, as a believer, you cannot be hidden. A light cannot be hidden or covered, no matter how, you will still see a glimpse of it.
If you are a true light as said in the passage, you cannot be hidden wherever you may find yourself.
I have found myself in some places where nothing is known about me, but somehow, people get to know that I am a believer. If you would need to tell people about yourself, your Christian life, your devotion and commitment,
you may not be all that genuine. Light would not have to announce itself. Light would simply be known or discovered by the people. If you are a true light, your attitude, character, and demeanor will prove it to the people around.
How do you be a light that cannot be hidden?
A believer who lives by the principles of the Bible is a light that cannot be hidden (Psalm 1:1–3). When you live by
practicing the Bible, you are emitting light. The world is full of darkness, however, as a believer in Christ, when
you live by God’s Word or principles, you tend to stand out among others—the crowd. The people would get to know that you are different, looking at how you live and do your things.
It is the practice of the Word of God, the Bible, that makes you outstanding. When you are compared with others,
people would know and see that you are not like the rest, those who are not reborn. I do not know how a believer
would be in a place and be hidden.
When you professed to be of God through Christ Jesus, and you are hidden, it means you are living in compromise—you are not practical about your Christian life.
The principles of the Bible that you live by would be in a sharp contrast with the principles of the world, that is prevalent, in the environment you find yourself; that makes you stand out automatically.
You cannot be a light in a place and people will be in doubt. If you are a true light of God, it would show and others
would be able to attest to it.
