Virtual Reality to Help Prisoners Re-Enter Society?

in #video8 years ago (edited)

This is a very interesting video. You know what though, if video games prepare prisoners for life on the outside, then theoretically speaking, the amount of video games that I've played and won, well that should have by now prepared me to save the world, and somehow I don't feel capable of saving the world.

In all fairness, I think this is a waste of money. America would be far better off with a system that's more geared towards the rehabilitation of prisoners. Sweden for example has a system that is so effective and humane that they've had to close down a handful of prisons over the last few years.

Compare that to America, where States are signing contracts with the private prison industry pledging to keep the prison population of any given facility near or above the ninety percentile range.

Basically, in signing contracts like that they are engaging in a conspiracy against society to produce criminals and serve them up as a sacrifice to profiteers who'd much rather pad their banking accounts, than do anything to help the problem.

It reminds me of a quote:

"Institutionalized, I live my life a product made to crumble" – Tupac

So, not only do they grease the skids to pave the way towards recidivism by not rehabilitating prisoners. They also introduce children to drugs via the DARE program which in essence has the effect of whetting the children's appetites, so that their imaginations go wild about what it must be like to get high. This way after they've allowed the drugs to be shipped into the country, they can get rich off the very black market that they've created in order to benefit themselves.

I truly do hate the phrase that 'there ought to be a law against' this or that, but in this case I really must make an exception and say that their ought to be a law against the State guaranteeing the population rates of private prisons, because what they're really saying is they agree to produce a certain number of criminals in exchange for a net profit.

You made a good call here!
In the other view, I think kicking off prison would encourage more crime in the country.

Happy steeming!
