Trash pile left for so long nature starts to grow though it
Vietnam is trying their best I guess because we actually do have trash pickup service that I guess my building pays for. I see the trucks come by almost every day so I will give those guys credit for the work they are doing. The downside of all of this though is that there seems to be a general disregard for certain spaces and a general lack of concern for littering.
Almost any open space that isn't constantly monitored by staff is covered in garbage and if anyone ever does come by and clean i up, which isn't very often, it is replaced rather rapidly.
This is especially true in vacant lots where it seems that people that have garbage that they cannot fit in the bins will come and toss it out there. Recently there was a place where I guess the owners were thinking of building something so they used a piece of heavy equipment to push all the trash to the center of the lot and then, for some reason, the crew just left and the trash pile remained.

now this trash has been sitting here for so long that plants are starting to grow through it. I don't know whether to be angry or impressed at the power of nature in this situation.

On one hand I am pleased that whatever construction they were maybe planning for this place got called off but on the other hand it seems a bit irresponsible that they would take the time to gather all the trash into a pile and then just walk away.
Sadly, these sorts of piles seem to attract other litterbugs who simply contribute to the pile until someone will come along and burn all of it.

I do not want this country to become like America but I think it would be a little bit nice if there was some sort of consequence for someone creating a nasty garbage pile in the middle of a residential area and then just doing nothing about it.

It looks awful, it stinks, and every day that I go back by this place it seems to have grown a little bit. When you start seeing things like discarded furniture in there you kind of know that the area simply doesn't care about what this looks like or how irresponsible it is. I'm surprised the neighboring land owners, many of which are hotels and apartment blocks, don't register a complaint with whoever it is that you would do that sort of thing to.
There is a still more good than bad about living here but it is just so odd to me that nobody seems to really take any pride about keeping an area tidy. In the meantime there are rather expensive hotel rooms in sight of this trash heap and can you imagine if you paid for a room with a view and your view is the local unofficial dumping ground?
I would do my part and pull some of it out of there but a lot of it is really heavy stuff such as construction debris. I would imagine that this is just going to stay like this until someone does decide to build on this land and then the crap will just get dumped somewhere else.
It's a bit depressing
