VR 3D sketching /sculpting | Oculus Rift- Gravity sketch + Oculus Medium

in #vr7 years ago (edited)

OK. I gotta share the excitement. I have officially and finally (as I was interested in the specific tech for long time) entered the OUSTANDING world of VR (virtual reality, for those not familiar with the term). Currently using oculus rift apps for 3D VR sketching and I have to say..nothing compares to this experience and its something you have to see for yourself to believe! extremely high recommended for professionals! Some first early test modeling bellow using gravity sketch and oculus medium (much more to come!+ more surprises) I cant wait to explore more into the VR technology and see where it can take my art as well other appliances!

Oh wow! I've been wanting to try this out! I haven't taken the plunge and bought the headset though. Please keep posting your progress as you get more into it! :)

Hi there! Thank you for your comment and yes! I'm definitely gonna be posting more as I progress! Modeling in vr is an amazing experience and is very intuitive! Using either gravity sketch or oculus medium is equally fun and flexible to get a hold of! I think you would like it if you are into 3d sculpting generally.

Amazing stuff, @manthos !!! It will be very strange how artists create arts in the future :D

This is super cool - but way over my head, lol. If this dog was any younger, he might learn new tricks, But as it is, I am glad I still remember my old ones ....

Hehe I really understand! I'm around my 40s and I feel I got kinda late into the game so I hear you! But I'm really glad I got to explore this fascinating technology and see where it can take my work. Truth is I was already invested in 3s graphics and it was only eventual for me to try that out. I have to say, it does help me more with the tools and is more intuitive and hopefully I can help others too!

When I was in my mid thirties, I returned to school to study art. I am into drawing and painting mostly, heavy on drawing. I dabble a little in digital art. My friend Peter Gric does a lot with 3D plotting (for his drawings and paintings), but I never understood the basics of it; somewhere on my computer is a program he recommended, but I gave up quickly, since it cut too much into my studio time. I am more into spontaneously making a mess to start with, and then trying to make sense of it.

Hi there again! I totally understand! sadly many digital programs take a lot of time and serious discipline to even learn the basics..I feel that it really has to do with the amount of passion and drive we have for certain things. I been traditional painter all my life and its been over a decade I started in digital because I really wanted to explore the opportunities and Im really grateful for doing so because not only it opened business paths previously not accesible, but really elevated my work to a new different level. However, I do feel you about that need to be spontaneous and then trying make sense of it. I also love doing that in personal stuff (because it would be almost impossible to apply that on client work hehe) I checked the profile of your friend Peter but Im not sure I was able to locate his personal work, mostly saw resteemed posts so Im sure I missed something! thank you for the feedback!

edit: I found his work! great great stuff! following and thank you for the mention.

Thank you for the comment! I'm also very excited to meet other 3d artists here and I would love to see your work too! While I'm very experienced in zbrush and other 3d software, vr is totally new for me so there is lots to learn and challenges ahead! I have to say, I love it already though and it immerses me in a new level and I'm positive it can make a difference in the work flow. I appreciate your comment and I'm happy to share more work here!

Also Thank you very much for the support resteem and follow too!!
