Another day, another walk.
My BFFFF is still here. She flew across Canada to visit me and she'll be here until next week. D'arcy came with me again, and this time we were looking for an old road I had been told about by some locals...here's today's walk...
Aaaaaand...not the right road again, this always happens to me hahaha, it's someone's driveway instead, so we carried on with no particular destination...
Saw my favourite neighbourhood friend, Mr. Heron! Every time I see him it's special beyond belief.
The Church on the Lake
Found a side road and got off the highway...
And if there's one thing about D'arcy, she sure can spot spiders and graveyards. If there's a spider around, anywhere, you'll know it. And yeah, there are a lot of graveyards in St. Margaret's Bay, yet I did not see this one lol. D'arcy looks through the woods, and sees a massive graveyard, so naturally we go in...
And we leave down the road through the graveyard...
I realized that I did know where I was after all LOL, I had seen the sign to the graveyard before, only driving though (well obviously, hahaa since this is only the 9th walk I've been on after living here for 3 years). On the way out I spotted this crazy dude...
And naturally, the person who is super afraid of spiders, wants to bring the caterpillar home in her sock so the boys can see it...
It tried to escape more than a few times on the walk home...
And the best part about the trip home for me personally...
I got to see his Majesty, Mr. Heron again!!! :) Le sigh...
The 3 of us made it home in time, and the boys were still awake, so they met their new friend the caterpillar, who is actually a Tobacco Horn Worm, and he got all snuggled into his new habitat (a caterpillar habitat we built the other day for a different guy). What a sock ride he had...
D'arcy trying to dislodge it from her sock, now it suddenly doesn't want to leave...
If I had to pick a favourite pic it would be this one.
Thank you for coming on another "WalkWithMe" I hope you enjoyed today's shots. I'd like to go on a walk in your neighbourhood too, so if you get out there for one, take a few pics, and post about your walk using the tag "walkwithme". I'll check the tag regularly to upvote and give encouragement. Let's get fresh air and fitness together!
Check out this walk with @taskmaster4450 today
I <3 Nova Scotia too! My heart is there. My family is from Antigonish and we used to go every year. Haven't been back for many years now. Looong over due. Love your photos! Especially the old shake shingle siding on the old building. :) Thanks for sharing.
That shake shingle siding is pretty phat
Oooh that's so great, I'm happy you enjoyed all the photos. Yes, the cedar shingles, are my favourite part of Nova Scotia...when we own a house one day, it's definitely going to have that! :) I love the whole feel of everything around here, the old houses, they're all so unique. I hope you get to come back soon!
Good walks with good friends - there's nothing better.
Love the old cemetery. A well-worn tombstone sure makes you appreciate your mortality, doesn't it?
Make sure you keep that caterpillar under wraps, though. Don't let it near all those delicious tobacco leaves!
Yes, that is so true about the tombstones...there is something very fascinating about them.
And yeah, the caterpillar became chicken food eventually, so....no worries there :)
Hahahaha! Everything becomes chicken food eventually!!!
That driveway is amazing. I'm glad you missed the right road.
Us too <3 Thank you very much for enjoying the photos @OldTimer! xo
A bit overcast today here but it looks like it will be a @walkwithme day.
Doooooooo It !! Like Da Fonz!!
I wish I knew where in NS all my ancestors lived. If you see any Pates, macDonalds, macLeans, Steeles, O'Handleys, or Campbells in that graveyard ...that might be us! Especially if it's Catholic. LOL!
Wow, I didn't know you had ancestors here, I will sure keep an eye out for those names, though some are pretty common haha :) I bet I would see a few of em!
My grandpa is from NS and my grandma NB; but they died in the US. I know one of my ancestors was involved in the coal miner strikes there where they burned down the company store in the early 20th century. My kinda ancestor! ;)
WOwwwwWWW That is SO badass!!!
Ikr? I just recently heard this from my Geneology Aunt and was like, "How have I never heard this story before??!" (Probably because Grandpa died when I was twelve). I googled it to corroborate her story and yep, it's a thing!
I wanted to ask, what's the average distance you're covering for each journey? Km or miles - either one - I'm an expert at math...
On average, between 5 and 10 kms each time.
Those calories don't stand a chance!
I don't think my dog would like that distance, especially with the hilly terrain :O
Your dog...or....you? heheheheeeee
Woof woof - both of us XD
Really beautiful day for a walk with a friend. Great photos. Makes me want to visit again. Soon...
Aw, I hope if you ever find yourself out this way, we can hook up for a coffee and a chat or whatnot!
Or a walk?
Watch out for that hungry caterpillar. He looks like a tomato eater!
Yes, he is staying in his habitat and will be returned to the wild in a few days, far far away from my peppers and tomatoes LOL!!
All pictures are beautiful!
I especially like the yellow flower! It pops! And the geese standing butt to butt! so cute!
Loving this series babe, you're so lucky as I've said many times to live in such a beautiful place ❤️
Thank you soooooooo much for checking out the walks!! xo :D
