Texas Weather Update

in #weather7 years ago

Growing up in Oklahoma when we got snow and ice it seemed pretty normal. Mom would go to the store, and make sure we had the items we needed for a power outage like food. Here in Texas it's a different story. People go completely insane! They buy everything in the store they can, and buy all the gas out at stores. They treat it like its lasting forever.. Whatever ice and snow Texas receives it literally disappears by noon.

We are expecting less then 1/2 inch of ice Tuesday morning into Wednesday morning. The temperature high for Wednesday is expected to be in the 40s. Whatever ice we receive will be dangerous for Tuesday, but will quickly melt by Wednesday. The last time the degrees dropped below 32 Jackson county had almost 20 wrecks. It's like Texans lose common sense!

What cracks me up is the Northerners make fun of Texans. We don't deal with ice and snow but every few years. There is no budget made for supplies to deal with this kind of weather. It's scary to think that our roads when they ice stay iced until it melts. Luckily it won't last long, and we can get back to our 70 degree winter days soon.

I'm looking forward to spending the cold day inside with my boys. I plan on making some soup or chilli in the crockpot. I don't plan on getting out of my pajamas. I am expecting my television to play lots of movies. I pray for everybody's safety! Stay safe and warm!

I am sitting here in Frisco, Texas preparing for the storm of the century. They say there might be as much as a tenth of an inch of ice on overpasses overnight. I am nervous😀

We lucked out and didn't get as much as they said we would. It went around us and the surrounding areas got it. We just got extremely cold. We live in Vanderbilt Texas population 400ish..

Winterwonderland, about 3" at my place In Bivins, Texas this morning.

Our truck got more ice on it then the roads. Which was a blessing.
