I have a young daughter, so I am subjected to "My Little Pony" to such a degree that it should really be classified as torture. Therefore it wasn't too hard finding the inspiration for this particular strip. BTW, that particular pony is called 'Twilight Sparkle'. The fact that I ended up memorizing not only that but also the names of the other ponies too has pretty much erased whatever small amount of 'cool' I had previously accumulated... 😕

What's the deal with 'bronies'? There's so many things I could be into before considering MLP.
I don't get it either. On a purely objective level, I'll say it's far from the worst kids' show and I get that it tends to have good messages for kids. And I'm glad that boys (and even men) are more free to show interest in such things without ridicule or getting one's butt kicked (like when I was growing up in the 80's and 90's). But even putting aside societal and gender expectations, the appeal of the show just eludes me. But then I totally didn't get the appeal of the Power Rangers show in the 90's either.
That said, this comic story arc is almost certain to poke some (good-natured) fun at Bronies in the future. 😁
