Amethyst Crystal
Greetings Steemians,
Aside from having a purple profile photo and purple grow lights, my favorite crystal is also purple. It is not my favorite color, it is just a coincidence. I think all colors are beautiful.
This is the amethyst crystal. I've always been drawn to it for its mesmerizing color.
Generally the darker the purple, the the more sought after the crystal is. A large amethyst geode with deep dark purps can be very valuable.
I've been fortunate enough to see some big amethysts that were so purple they looked black.
I've been told that it's best to keep them out of the sun, because this will degrade the color.
This is not considered a quality amethyst by any means. It is not very dark, has been in the sun, and I've broken chunks off for gift projects.
I have a goal to one day have a nice amethyst. Maybe crypto will help me get there :)
I have a super rare crystal called tsavorite, and it's a nice one. Perhaps I will take some photos of it tomorrow. I've shared it on my blog before, but it was a while ago and I have a better camera now.
Did the candle light give the crystal a cool effect? I thought it did :)
I didn't modify these in anyway with the exception of the cover photo being cropped to zoom it in.

Amethysts are cool. All crystals and rocks are! I have quite a few (including some like that one), mostly collected as a kid/teen. Some from relatives. Rocks are underrated collectibles :P
I also have a shell collection (also mostly from my youth), a coin collection, some stamps, hockey cards, and so on.
That is awesome bro! I have very similar hobby/collectibles interests as you, and also feel crystals and rocks super cool and underrated for sure.

Crystals are interesting stones, and there is an air of mystery about them. I almost took a course on crystal healing once. But I didn't think my temperament was suitable for it.
