I have been challenged by @retro-room - well, i actually asked for it, because it´s a nice challenge and i wanted to take part 🙄

Anyway, here is a link to the article: https://steemit.com/whygamesaregoodchallenge/@retro-room/steemit-gaming-challenge-why-games-are-good-retro-room-s-list

Now let´s get to the amazing games!

Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES)

I do like all the Super Mario games, but this one really was my favourite back in the days - and it still is. Maybe it was because of all the different characters to choose from, and i loved playing with the princess. She could fly for a short time, it felt overpowered compared to the other ones. You could pull plants out of the ground, there were doors with dark minilevels, the whole setting (including the enemies) was different than in any other Mario game until now. Also, you could just rush through the game, because it was pretty easy. Remember most of the NES games? There were unbeatable. Not that it was bad back then, I was a GOD because i made it to level 8 in Battletoads (NES). Nowadays, you can beat most games easily.

Battletoads (NES)

I already mentioned it, this was one of my first game ever, on my very first console (the NES). Great graphics (for the NES), great controls with combos and multiplayer. Although, the coop mode was not very helpful, because there were twice as many enemies and the second player distracted me in the hoverbike levels. Not many people reached level 4, because the hoverbike level was superhard. You basically had to know the whole level, and a tiny mistake let you bump into some wall. Each level was completely different and had some new gameplay elements and endbosses. Made it to level 8 - out of 12! Just watch some gameplay videos, you really need a lot of time for this game...

XCOM - Terror from the Deep

This was one of my first PC games, and i loved it so much. It was the second XCOM game after "XCOM - Enemy Unknown" (Not the one on Steam), followed by a lot of other ones like "Apocylypse", "Afterlight", "Aftermatch" the newer "XCOM - Enemy Unknown" and "XCOM 2". I guess they are too lazy to invent new names nowadays...
Anyway, this was great because it had a smooth round-based combat mode, skills to improve, research from UFO technology, you could even give your fighters names. I was very sad when they died, but that´s life/XCOM. A complex game, but you could always save and reload. I needed that a lot 😑

Master of Orion 2 - Battle at Antares

If someone knows about a remake of this one that´s actually worth playing: Please comment! I am not sure if the one from 2016 on Steam with the improved graphics and the "Mixed" rating is as good as the original game.
Planet colonization with economics, research, races and different skills, custom ship designs with different sizes and setup, ... need i say more? This is probably the game i played the most.

It was great to remember all those amazing games, now it´s your turn! I nominate the following users:

Leave a comment when you are done, I´d be very interested to read about your 4 most amazing games!
