So it isn't the smart meter itself, but the radio waves it uses to communicate that are carcinogenic. Which are usually there anyway since it runs on wifi. Which even if you don't have wifi yourself, your probably exposed to via your neighbors, workplace out any store you're likly to visit.

If true, this is not a smart meter problem, but a civilizational problem. There are several solutions to these.
For instance, you can go live in the country and 'become one with nature'. Short term many people find this to be relaxing and enjoyable, some few decide to spend the rest of their lives like this.
Another solution is to simply 'wait it out'. Over time our genetics adapt and the species as a whole improves to become resistant to damage from these 'diseases of civilization'. It takes a long time with species as long lived as we are, but nature plods ever onward. This solution doesn't help you personally, but in theory your descendents several generations hence.
A way out there solution is to integrate crumpled aluminum foil into all your clothes, reducing your exposure and gaining you local notoriety as the person even the cat ladies can look to and say to themselves "well, in not THAT crazy."
