Eastcoast Windstorm, March 2, 2018

The most horrific windstorm occurred yesterday up and down the Mid Atlantic coast. Here in Maryland, we experienced winds between 55-70 mph. Power outages reported here in Harford County were 54,000 people at one point. Shelters were opened for people who needed safety.

My home sustained roof damage, shutters were ripped off and broken into pieces. My surviellance cameras stopped working. I was looking out my front window and literally saw roofing shingles and shutters sailing through the air. The electricity kept going out and returning for an hour a few times before finally going out around 4:20 PM and not returning until around 9 PM. I have a huge African Chiclid whose water became too cold for him and I was so afraid he would die. I wrapped comforters around his tank but within 5 minutes the electricity came back on. I added hot water to the tank to warm him up faster. Thank God he survived.

I called my homeowners' insurance carrier to start a claim and called a roofer who had just put a new roof on for me in Decrmber, 2012. Of course, this kind of wind speed was not covered under the warranty. However, they came out immediately to secure my roof with plywood and tarp. I was very pleased with their responsiveness.
