Bible wisdom: All things come in pairs, one opposite the other, and he has made nothing incomplete. Ben Sira 42:24
The master of wisdom Ben Sira, in his sapiential book, praised and gave glory to the Lord for all creation, and wrote a brief overview of how the eternal and creative wisdom manifested its greatness, and thus Ben Sira began the text with these words: "I will now call to mind the works of the Lord, and will declare what I have seen" Ben Sira 42:15.
And in this way, Ben Sira, through beautiful metaphors, explained some truths that should not be forgotten by those who are devoted to wisdom and want to know the mysteries of the universe. Ben Sira explained that everything that man can observe in the universe, that is, all the sensible objects that can be grasped by the senses, are derived from the objects that man can grasp with the intellect; the benevolent wisdom, which has existed before the beginning of the times, is the origin of all creation, and so Ben Sira continued with his spiritual teaching: "By the word of the Lord his works are made" Ben Sira 42:15.
Then Ben Sira expressed in the Bible that the universe is a harmony, that is, a perfect balance, and that everything that exists has a purpose; nothing is accidental. If darkness exists, it is because God created light, and if evil exists, it is because God gave man the freedom to choose. In this sense, all the wise men agree: there is no underlying evil in the universe, and everything obeys God's designs.
Ben Sira reminded everyone that God is the origin of all the perfections in the universe and that, moreover, all things were created in pairs: "All things come in pairs, one opposite the other, and he has made nothing incomplete. Ben Sira 42:24.
And so Ben Sira continued and wrote about the sun, the moon, the stars, and the different wonders of nature. Ben Sira, with his intelligence, taught through this text to see the universe in an optimistic way and with the eyes of God. This is why Ben Sira concluded with a very interesting thought: the universe is beautiful, and man is the culmination of its work because only to his creature, those who descend of Adam and Eve, the Lord gave the gift of wisdom: "It is the LORD who has made all things; to those who fear him he gives wisdom" Ben Sira 43:33.
