Christian wisdom: Love must be completely sincere. Hate what is evil, hold on to what is good. Romans 12:9

In his epistle to the Romans, which is a letter addressed to the believers in the capital of the empire, the apostle Paul skillfully developed what would give rise to Christianity and differentiate it from the Jewish religion, the spiritual salvation depends no longer by the works of the law, but by the faith in Jesus Christ. And the acceptance of this new faith, Paul taught in his epistle, has its demands, such as the commandment of love.
But this love proclaimed by Jesus and taught by Paul is not a love directed toward worldly things, like the love of money, but a love directed toward what is noblest and most excellent, a love that demands a total change in the mentality of man; that is why Paul referred to this love with these words: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind" Romans 12:2.
For Paul, this love, called agape in the Greek language, is the realization of the Kingdom of God, the empire or dominion of the divine perfections, in the world, a love that allows men to live as citizens of heaven in the world, and with these simple words, Paul described it in practice: "Love must be completely sincere. Hate what is evil, hold on to what is good. Love one another warmly as Christians, and be eager to show respect for one another" Romans 12:9-10.
This love that the apostle Paul knew very well is a love very close to wisdom, a love that is the door to the spiritual gift of eternal life or contemplative life, because whoever loves his brother and his neighbor can perceive God in essence with his mind. For Paul, this demand of Christian love surpassed all the demands of the law, because for Paul the law was there to teach where sin is, but the law is not enough to free man from error, so he wrote: "Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law" Romans 13:10.
For Paul, ultimately, all of man's freedom, blessedness, and happiness were defined by this perfect love.
