The Lost Wisdom "Listening"
Everybody likes talking about themselves, some more than others, some less than others.
There was a story about a man who won the hearts of thousands of woman. a curious teenager went to talk to the man. the man was an ordinary looking with nothing visually outstanding, not too tall, not too lavish only a simple smile on his face. the teenager went straight and asked "how are you the famous womanizer?" with a gentle grin the man offered the teenager a cup of tea and encouraged him to talk about what the thought of a "womanizer". the teenager went on and on talking about his views on an ideal womanizer. the man nodded his head every now and then, agreed and encouraged the boy to say more.
Hours has passed. his tea became cold, untouched, and the teenager asked " Now that you know what i think, tell me, how i can be a womanizer like you?" the man replied "i am not a womanizer, i am a listener". confused, the boy took a sip of his cold tea. The man pointed his hand to a passing lady and asked the boy "who do you think that lady spend the most time with?" uncertain if this was a trick question, the boy replied "her parents? her boyfriend?". the man went on pouring the boy a fresh cup of tea and said "she lived with herself the most, since birth and for the rest of her life"
The boy was puzzled and wondered what that had to do with anything. The man said " We lived with ourselves so long that most of the time that's all we can hear, ourselves. The funny part is, in a conversation, they are listening to themselves too! Rather than thinking about what to say next why don't you try to just Listen and agree although deep inside you might not." The man added " How can anyone view you negatively when you agreed?" After a few second of silence, the boy nodded and asked if listening was the key to a woman's heart. With a satisfied sneer he concluded "Listening is the greatest sign of admiration"
