The Reports from the Witnesses aims to provide the community with a summary of what all the witnesses have been up to. Every week, I collect all of the reports from the individual witnesses and assemble them into a single aggregated report.

Sorry this week's report is a day late. (I've been busy with family for the holiday.) Reports that have been posted within the last 24 hours are excluded, and will be included in next week's report.

The details here are a summary (paraphrased by me), based on what I found in the individual reports. If you are interested in reading everything the witnesses have been up to - including many details that are left out of this summarized report, please click on the links to view their full reports.

Witnesses can continue posting their posts to the witness-category and/or witness-update tags, and I will assemble everything I find there. If I miss any reports, just let me know and I will correct it. If you have any issues with the summary that I wrote for your report, please let me know and I will do my best to address your concerns.

Reports from the Witnesses 2016-12-26

@abit - Witness Position #4

• Made a patch and a brief guide so more people can mine STEEM.
• No change to SBD pegging policy. Current parameters: APR 5%, price feed bias -0.1%. As of writing, market price of SBD is about 1.008 USD per SBD.
• Updates to witness voting list.
• Regarding curation - votes for posts with a pending payout less than 0.1$, or with a "cn" tag and the content is not too bad (subjective) and is related to Chinese/China.

@klye - Witness Position #25

• Life is very busy/chaotic at the moment, so not much progress with STEEM projects.
• Adjusted witness APR % down from 8.5% to 7.5%.
• Since v0.16.0 witness servers, have had an increase in stability. Continue to have 100% up-time.
• Moved up 2 spots to position 25.
• Will continue to work on projects and push to get them done here in the new year.

@delegate.lafona - Witness Position #32

• SBD value has been strong and repeatedly over 1$.
• Reducing the interest parameter for my witness from 9% to 7%.
• If the steemdollar continues to trade at more than 1$ in the next few weeks, will consider reducing if further.

@dragosroua - Witness Position #51

• Reported on the development that has been done to the Steemit UI.
• Steem price was relatively stable, trading between $0.20 and $0.16.
• Supervised the witness node and the witness-toolbox scripts.
• Updated SBD APR to 9% in order to match the latest developments.
• Updated account creation fee at $5 (worth of Steem) from $3.
• Followed the discussions in chat rooms for price and witnesses (not much going on there).
• Promoted @berniesanders initiative of burning Steem by promoting posts, at @smooth's suggestion.
• As the year is approaching its end there seems to be more time available for Steem, hence you should expect a more consistent witness update, including side projects related to the community, pretty soon.

@nonlinearone - Witness Position #59

• Happy and proud to support Steem and Steemit.com as a witness.
• Been keeping witness up to date and running.
• Have only missed five blocks in three months.
• Shared some updates to a steem price feed script.
• Planning on sharing the very alpha code for 'Barracuda' as open source soon.
• Been "curating" - upvoting a lot of people with the help of Barracuda.
• Summary of witness finances (currently running at a loss).
• Currently at position 59, hopes to get higher to help cover the cost of the witness server.
• Provided server specs for witness hardware.

@bola - Witness Position #83

• Been busy doing overtime with work lately, but has still been able to keep a close eye on witness node to keep it running smoothly.
• Updated Ubuntu, started a fresh steemd, and updated config parameters to resolve stability issues.
• Changed SBD Interest Rate to 8%.

Some Notes:

• Many witnesses do not report every week, and prefer to only report when they have updates.
• I recommend that you include communication as one of your criteria for evaluating witnesses, but keep in mind - it is not the only criteria. There are some witnesses that prefer to work "behind the scenes", and do not do much as far as reports.
• For witnesses that are not currently posting any reports, I would encourage you to provide the community with at least some insight into what you are currently working on :)
