A path through fear as a roadmap.
A path through fear as a roadmap.
Have you noticed that children are often told scary stories before bed to put them to sleep?
Yes, it works, but it's very strange. Although, in principle, fear initially makes the child's argonism stressed, and then, when they realize the story is over and the danger has passed, the argonism relaxes and the child falls asleep...
But, for some reason, no one is worried about the child having nightmares in their sleep—at least, this applies to those who read Moldovan fairy tales to their children at night.
I remember my children coming home from school and being shocked after they read one of them in Romanian literature class.
In such tales, the main character, or someone very dear to them, inevitably dies a painful death. Where's the happy ending?
In some situations, you want to ask: Why?
Like, for example, why would someone stick a car tire into a tree node?
The only thing that comes to mind is that it's much easier to come up with a scary story than a kind story that would serve as a road map for a child to a happy future. However, instead, they're preparing them for the very harsh realities of life, even too much.
