Parents and teachers, when raising children, try to guide them along the right path in life, which is often seen as a mere projection of some unrealistic dreams of the aforementioned educators.
You can plan something from childhood, but at some point, everything can go wrong. This doesn't mean that a spontaneous path is worse than one that took a lot of time and effort to carefully plan.
That's how I see it :)
