Determination breeds determination.
Determination breeds determination.
They joke that a bad example is contagious, especially when one child starts misbehaving, and other children, watching them, start misbehaving too, thinking it's time for permissiveness. LOL.
But, in fact, a good example is also contagious, and that's a good thing.
After all, looking at someone who is determined, for example, inevitably makes you determined yourself.
I feel this when I study someone's experience in animal husbandry and plant growing. I'm fascinated by carpentry and metalworking; mentally, I become closer to all of this.
But examples of how determination breeds determination can be very simple and banal. You can see one such example in these photographs I took near my property.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw movement over the grassy road and realized it was a fairly large bird.
It would land on the grass, then fly up into the nearby bushes, but it didn't fly far from its perch. Something was holding it there, and it seemed to be determined.
And at that moment, when I picked up my camera and set out to photograph the butterfly up close, I too became, to some extent, a determined person with a simple but specific goal.
You could say Senya had several goals at once: to find out what kind of butterfly it was (I didn't recognize it from afar), and to photograph it as close as possible.
Horse-drawn vehicles often travel along this road. The horses sweat, the sweat drips onto the grass, the moisture evaporates, and salt settles on the grass and roadside dust. I believe that the salt, the opportunity to taste it, was the butterfly's goal; Senya has no other explanation for its actions.
The butterfly turned out to be smart; as I approached, it alternately took off and then landed, preventing me from getting close enough for a macro photo.
So the intersection of the butterfly's goals and mine remained balanced. You could say no one was left feeling unkind, and both of our goals were somewhat achieved. I got a few photos, and the butterfly ate its fill of salt and stretched its beautiful wings a bit.
