Funny first disappointments.

Funny first disappointments.

Usually, disappointments are something people try to forget forever, never think about again, and try to remove everything that might remind them from their memory.

But sometimes disappointments turn out to be very funny, and many years later I remember them with a smile, especially when it's nice to remember the very first ones.

Perhaps I won't talk now about how there was no continuation of the world I lived in behind the mirror, and that the one looking back at me and grimacing was me. I won't remember today that a tricycle can't safely slide down a high-rise staircase. Let's talk about a disappointment that is naturally associated with beautiful butterflies.

The moment I first saw a butterfly, I was struck by its beauty and thought that a butterfly must smell wonderful.

Back then, I had a highly developed sense of smell, and I simply drank in aromas. I was very curious to know what a butterfly smelled like.

I had theories and fantasies that a baboska must smell like a lozenge, or even better. When I first decided to catch a butterfly, I imagined that I would never forget its scent.

So, one day, it happened!

I carefully opened my hand, being careful not to harm the butterfly, and brought it to my nose...

Disappointment, how else can I describe it?

I couldn't wrap my head around the idea that a butterfly smelled terrible, no better than a stink bug, but I didn't know back then that this was a defense mechanism to repel hungry birds, which, by the way, are also beautiful, but smell, lol, disgusting outside the kitchen.

I loved how the photo you included brought back the memory of that moment, and it's hilarious that you thought butterflies must smell wonderful - what a sweet and innocent perspective. 🦋😊
