How can you feel like a cowboy outside the Wild West?
How can you feel like a cowboy outside the Wild West?
I don't know anyone who didn't love watching Westerns, especially as a child.
I'm sure every child dreamed of riding a wild mustang, lassoing a charging bull, and being able to quickly, blindly, but accurately fire a Colt pistol from the hip.
Years pass, and those dreams fade, you know. That the Wild West is a thing of the past, like a fairy tale?
But no!
It's not a wide-brimmed hat, spurs on our boots, and trips to the saloon that make us cowboys. What makes us cowboys is the ability to quickly navigate our surroundings, whether the place is familiar or not, the ability to see what others don't see, to hear what others don't. This is something that runs in the blood of photographers, amateurs, and professionals alike; these skills gradually become a part of life.
Personally, I feel an incredible rush of adrenaline when I find myself in even a small park where trees grow, and where there are trees, there is always something interesting.
For example, a nut tree might seem like nothing special, but you can photograph it from different angles, and you can write so many stories about it that Leo Tolstoy would envy you.
But only a true QB would appreciate such an opportunity.
You're in the middle of a deserted prairie, there's no food, but there you have a mushroom.
Only a true cowboy knows that the aftereffect of eating this mushroom is either fullness, or something even worse than meeting Indians who are planning to scalp someone.
And if you're like a cowboy explorer searching for a lost world, or a hidden Edbdorado, you'll definitely catch a glimpse of it.
And like a true cowboy counting the remaining bullets in his Colt, you need to check the remaining space on your camera's memory card.
You see, it seems like you didn't leave the comfort of your chair in your room while reading this post, but you've actually been to the Wild West :)
