Sharply honed wisdom.
Sharply honed wisdom.
Wise sayings often become proverbs, catchphrases, reminders of something right at a time when we're about to make a mistake, although, as a rule, catchphrases are remembered immediately after the mistake.
Among catchphrases, there are many that require a significant adjustment for the wind. For example, "Don't count your chickens in the fall." This proverb isn't entirely accurate, as in the fall, people usually count ducklings returning home from the pond, not chickens.
Such proverbs are like dull pencils; it's difficult to draw a fine line with them, but with a sharp pencil, you can draw anything. So, some proverbs are sharply honed and applicable to most people in life.
So, I once heard a Jamaican proverb from a native Jamaican: The higher a monkey climbs a palm tree, the more its butt is visible.
This little Tata has definitely never been to a palm tree, and its bright coloring attracts attention, making it difficult for it to hide.
But this butterfly has clearly adopted this proverb and is not easy to spot.
And the sparrow knows where Jamaica is and where the butterflies are, which might not have known this folk wisdom.
And this wisdom applies to everyone, from butterflies to politicians to bloggers to carpenters, because it has a sharp edge.
