The annual, crucial exam.

The annual, crucial exam.

When I was in school, I waited for it all to finally end and I'd stop thinking about exam time and preparation at the end of spring.

Maybe some people enjoyed that feeling of ants running through your veins, no matter how well I prepared for the exam, but I didn't really enjoy it, even the thought of passing with flying colors.

But I was wrong. Then came exams at university, and every day of my independent life became an exam.

Basically, any activity during that time when we move from theory to practice is an exam, with a hammer or a camera in hand.

Although, in this bundle of exams, there are some things I enjoy: picking mushrooms, berries, and medicinal herbs in the forest.

Don't laugh, this exam is arguably more important than the higher-level subject exam, especially if you don't plan to pursue advanced studies. This is something that could cost you your life and the lives of others, and very quickly, like lightning. After such an exam, you could immediately defend your doctoral dissertation. No, they should hand it over to you immediately, without a defense.

For example, medicinal herbs are sometimes easily confused with their poisonous counterparts. Although it's true that many medicinal herbs are poisonous, in small doses they have medicinal effects. For example, the plant hemlock, from which tinctures for oral administration are made, is very poisonous.

Hemlock is very similar to the plant yarrow, which is also medicinal, but not poisonous. It's very easy to make a mistake, especially if you haven't studied the theory well before the exam.

There are plants that can deceive us, and there are those that are like elementary school arithmetic, such as coltsfoot, which you saw in the first photo, a forest and edible plant, its leaves easily replace grape leaves in a dish called dolma, or cabbage rolls, where the leaves are stuffed with a mixture of rice, vegetables, and minced meat.

They say that during any exam, you can try using cheat sheets or tips from friends, but not in this case.

If we assume that it's possible to collect plants from which bees collect nectar and pollen, then you could fail the exam. After all, bees often collect nectar from poisonous plants, such as the plant native to Australia, which we call "bruise." It contains toxins similar to cyanide, but the honey doesn't become poisonous.

Whether you want to or not, you have to take exams seriously!
