Too much freedom.

Too much freedom.

People generally don't like having their freedom restricted, and that's understandable. Who would like that? LOL.

But sometimes, too much freedom kind of mocks you. You can do everything, but in such a situation, it's sometimes difficult to decide where to start, what's important and what's secondary.

For example, I had one hour of complete freedom, a camera in hand, and the opportunity to photograph everything that struck me, but!

Yes, but!

I could have spent that hour walking around the lake, where I'd been many times before, and the chances of seeing anything new were slim, but they existed.

Alternatively, I could have dived into the dense forest, where I'd never been before, but it was somehow dark, prickly, and uninviting, while the lake was so beautiful.

One bonus of the forest's depths is the opportunity to see sharp contrasts of light and shadow, but this doesn't always happen, typically early in the morning when the sun is just emerging from behind the treetops.

You can't expect this later, and on such mornings, you begin to envy the bird that restricts its freedom of movement by perching on a thin tree branch. It's nice and comfortable there, even though you can't move to the side, but sometimes that's what you have to do.
