I recommend to eat at least something while hooked-up at dialysis to prevent hypotension

After all these years of being on dialysis (24 years), it is better to eat while hooked-up to the dialysis machine simply because it prevents the blood sugar to get low enough that the blood pressure will also get low if not crash down. I noticed that if I would eat a sandwich after one and a half hours after getting hooked-up to the dialysis machine, my heartbeat will not get slow and in other words my blood pressure will stabilize even if I was only eating a Mayonnaise sandwich.
But I have a long history and experience that even if I was eating, I still experience blood pressure crashes until I just used candies and suck on them so that my blood sugar will not go down which again would cause hypotension. Then there are many instances that I will not eat and it will turn out okay still. However I guess that I will have to consume some food since it will be better for the level of my blood sugar in order not to experience what my nurses call "IDH" which means hypotension during dialysis treatment time.
Last Monday I tried not to eat while hooked-up because I wasn't really getting the feeling of hunger and since the treatment session was in a very early morning schedule, I preferred to sleep rather than take my meal considering that I also ate before going to the dialysis clinic. But the dialysis machine quite lowered my blood sugar and so it affected my blood pressure and I have to alert the nurses otherwise I will graduate from this world in no time.
Experiencing a crashing blood pressure is really frightening because it is very, very uncomfortable as you feel that life is going out from your body and that will certainly happen if the situation will not be corrected quickly and I mean quick because the patient can black-out in a matter of seconds depending on the severity of blood pressure crash.
However, the nurses already knows what to do in such cases, they would "run" to the dialysis machine, lower the blood pump, and at the same time will infuse saline solution to the blood lines. After a few seconds the blood pressure will recover until it gets to normal levels. However most of the time the fluid removal will not get completed and then the blood pump will be set to slow.
It differs from patient to patient because sometimes the treatment will be terminated because the blood pressure will not recover that much or if the patient cannot communicate well to the nurses when the nurses are talking to them and they fail to respond. There are instances that some patients could not really tolerate dialysis and so either they themselves or their families or relatives give-up and not go back to the treatment clinic.
So I thank God a million times because he was continuously saving me from this hard medical situation because I was thinking that if I had died a long time ago, my mother would not get to live in a new house for one thing and maybe even of I would be in the grave in that instance I will feel saddened because I had given my parents a whole lot of trouble because of my medical misfortune which plagued me right even I was born as I patched the past events in my life leading to what I am dealing with until today. But with the mercy of God I am living and somewhat thriving, to God be the highest praises and Glory, Amen.
