It is worth it to have a hot shower and water softener installed for our home because it improved the quality of our life

When I would use the bathroom I will crank-up the hot water and cold water mixer to have a more hot water to flow from the shower or faucet. Although it is very hot, the hot water coming from the main shower head is not enough to scald the skin but it is indeed very hot and I feel that it is quite therapeutic for me because it feels good to the skin as it helps me to relieve some of the parts of my body which have an itch like my sometimes my back and the dialysis access in my arm which dotted with needle marks. If I will switch to the handheld shower head, the hot water coming from it is hotter compared to the water coming from the main shower head and is quite perfect for me to relieve that itchy part of my left upper arm.
My dialysis access in my arm is always itching and my way to get some relief for it is to dab a hot compress over it just to take-off the itch otherwise the itch will sometimes be unbearable nut I try so hard to not touch it because it will make the itch worse. But my invented way of relieving it is by putting hot compress as mentioned on that affected area on my arm I am using a very hot water inside a food grade plastic bag, tying it up so that the hot water will be secured inside the plastic and not spill out to avoid accidentally scald me and then inserting the it into a thin cloth like a big handkerchief and in my case I use a small and long pillow case, the one which is used for babies. It is my mother that does it for me, I would just ask her if I needed it especially after taking a shower prior for my dialysis treatment so that I will be comfortable while waiting for my treatment to end.
The relief for the itch will last for hours and it is a good technique in order to prevent scratching this sensitive part of my arm where my dialysis access is located just to prevent infection to my arteriovenous graft. It is 23 years old now and I am thankful to God that it had lasted that long because for many patients the AV graft doesn't last long and they have to make another graft in the their other arm or have a permanent catheter in their chests which I pray to God to not happen to me. Anyway, I do think that my AV graft will still last me for many more years for as long as I am living because again, this graft is already 23 years old, quite a record actually.
The only problem that I have to deal with was fixing the part where it ballooned on the place where the artery and the vein was grafted or stitched together so I had to get it fixed because it is causing me a great deal of pain already. It had been growing in size ever since it was grafted together until unbearable pain happened. The pain was so apparent that I have to use pain killers to get some relief plus the size of the ballooned vein is already impeding on the function of my left arm and I can already feel its heaviness not to mention getting to feel embarrassed when other people stares at it and it further amplify my inherent shyness from people considering that I am quite introverted.
Now when I go to use our shower with hot water, I tend to always spray it with hot shower coming from the secondary shower head. The hot water coming from it would nearly scald my skin because I will adjust the mixer to output pure hot water but not boiling. But if I will drizzle the almost scalding hot water over my arm unto the the dialysis access, it will then relieve the itch as long as I will not hold steady the running hot water and it will feel good afterwards because the itch will fade away. After that I will adjust the water mixer to output only cold or unheated water so that I can be able to easily select to either the main shower head or the faucet for my purpose at the moment.
The reason why I would run cold water before selecting where the water should go out next is because it gets hard to turn the output selector after running hot water through either the main shower head, the secondary shower head, or the faucet maybe because the o-ring probably gets soft and expands and it impedes to easy selection of where the water should go out next. I learned about it by experiencing it using our new shower head with hot and cold water mixer.
What is good about our water now is that we are using soft water and it helps us to prevent mineral residue deposits on the tiles, the floor, to the toilet itself, and also in the sinks and other things which water would be used like the plates and drinking cups and glasses. Using soft water really feels good on the skin when you shower, the skin feels slippery like soap is not removed but it was actually the real feel of clean skin unlike if it is squeaky clean which is caused by friction of minerals in the water like magnesium and calcium. When you are done with showering and use the towel, the slippery feel will go away but after your skin had dried, it will feel smooth and shiny.
I have to use water softener because of the water heater, it needs soft water so that it will no t get damaged due to mineral build-up on the heating element so that we can use it for a long time. We also always needed hot water because there are times that the water gets cold enough for bathing or showering that it gets hard to endure it especially for me that needs more time to clean my body when I use the bathroom so that I can avoid shivering and my hands and feet getting numb in the process.
My parents now had been so intolerant to cold showers or even with a normal water temperature because of their age, so they needed to use a warm pail of water to use when they needed to get some shower. The water heater in the bathroom is my way of helping them out when they use the bathroom so that they will not feel so cold anymore and it frees us altogether from using the cooking gas just to heat some water in the kettle and only pouring it in the collected water in the pail. Now we have the convenience of getting a variable hot water temperature directly from the shower heads or faucet.
These combination of soft water and hot water system is my gift to myself and my parents aside to this new house, both of which is now giving us great comfort, security, convenience, and safety. Well I wished that I had all these things when I was still young but at least I achieved something that most people can only dream of, thanks be to God, to God the highest praise forever, Amen!

“Okay, that’s quite an upgrade! 😄 Soft water really does feel different, and being able to take a warm shower whenever you want is worth its weight in gold. Awesome that you made that happen for your family. We don’t have something like that in our apartment building, unfortunately. But we do filter our drinking water, which is important for us because our water is very hard. That’s why we have to replace the filter in our big carafe every 4 weeks.”
The hard water from the tap ruins the tiles, it sometimes gets yellow when the water company cleans or flushes the main pipes. I don't want it to happen to the new tiles, faucets, the kitchen sink, etc. especially the hot water for the bathroom of the house which is why I had the idea of soft water system installed to solve it.
Our water softener system also had filters and UV light to kill the germs which can pass through the filters as shown in my photos above, it is located above the four filters.
We still don't drink it to be sure which is why we still purchase purified water for drinking. But what is good is that we can use the water from our filtered tap water for cooking and it makes the taste of the soup or hot water better because there is no more taste of chlorine anymore.
Like I mentioned, my skin feels better using the soft water, there are no more soap residue build-up on the webbing of my hand, arms, nails, and legs after taking a bath/shower.
That is why I do recommend using soft water if we can because it pays a lot for our health and it maintains the beauty of our house in many aspects as mentioned. 👍😀

…a sensible solution under your conditions. A small note for context: standards—and especially the reliability of the supply system—can vary a lot from country to country. In the EU and in Germany, drinking water is strictly regulated (German Drinking Water Ordinance / EU Drinking Water Directive). As I already mentioned, I live in an apartment building—more specifically, the building has 76 rental units. The building was constructed in 1959. A full renovation would be very expensive here in Germany, especially since we “only” have a limescale issue (hard water).
Yes I agree, actually the tap water here is also drinkable but we all prefer to purchase purified water for drinking to be safe since the cost is cheap for the reason that there are many commercial purified water stations around here.
