People are visiting their dead relatives in the cemeteries here in my country today

The day of the dead is one major holiday here in my country and people with departed loved ones would often go to the cemeteries and go to their respective niche or where their lovedones are buried or put into and then stay there for a while to remember their lovedones.

It is quite a festive day because there are lots of people, it is like a collection of reunion of families and more of with happy note rather than being a sad and solemn day. It is a good chance to see your relatives who would visit the common departed relative especially if the dead is an elder of your clan.

Anyway it is a Catholic practice and sometimes you will see a priest blessing the whole area with "holy water" and I guess that he cannot alone do it because cemeteries are huge places especially the public ones which has a lot of people in it.

The authorities are now banning things which are brought to the cemeteries like Kites, and of course knives, firecrackers, and I am not sure of they too are banning food inside the cemeteries but in private cemeteries, you can see some families treat it like a picnic area with only a difference of having a tombstone on the well-maintained grass where below was the departed family member.

I kind of like the way families and their relatives see each other when the day of the dead comes. It is one of the major holidays that families gathers together because it becomes festive and who will not like a festive event for families.

Anyway, during this day, some family members just go and visit their departed lovedones quickly, they just light-up a candle or bring some flowers, maybe offer a prayer, and go home immediately. The youth for the most part will hang-out for a while and chat together until night time/ Also people enjoy the food being sold outside the cemetery as well all throughout the day and the day is done after all had gone home at night.
