♠️ Do You Know How to Play Texas Hold'em? ♥️

In my previous Steem4Poker post, I asked about your poker experiences and whether you could see yourself playing poker here on Steem

This time, let's talk about the game itself.

Do you know how to play Texas Hold'em?

Texas Hold'em is probably the best-known form of poker in the world, and it is also the game we are currently testing on Steem4Poker.

Some of you probably know the rules very well.

Others may have watched poker on TV or online but never actually played.

And some may have absolutely no idea what the flop, turn and river mean. 😃

That's perfectly fine.

♣️ The Basics Are Actually Quite Simple

Each player receives two private cards, also known as hole cards, that only they can see.

During the hand, up to five community cards are placed face up on the table for everyone to use.

The community cards are dealt in three stages:

The Flop – the first three community cards
The Turn – the fourth community card
The River – the fifth and final community card

Your goal is to make the best possible five-card poker hand using any combination of your two private cards and the five community cards.

But poker isn't only about having good cards.

During a hand you can check, bet, call, raise or fold, depending on the situation.

And sometimes...

You can win without having the best cards at all. 😉

That's where bluffing becomes part of poker.

♦️ What Beats What?

One of the first things every new poker player needs to learn is which poker hands are the strongest.

From the mighty Royal Flush all the way down to High Card, here is the complete Steem4Poker poker hand ranking:

Once you understand these rankings and the basic betting rounds, you already know enough to start learning Texas Hold'em at the table.

And playing is much more fun than just reading the rules. 😃

🃏 Learning by Playing

One of the reasons I wanted to bring poker to Steem is that you don't need to be an expert to enjoy it.

Poker is something you can learn by playing.

And Steem4Poker is no longer just an idea.

The platform is now being tested, and players are already sitting at the tables playing Texas Hold'em.

The screenshot above is from an actual Steem4Poker test game.

At this stage, we are testing the poker tables, finding bugs and checking that everything works as it should before the official launch.

There will probably still be things that need to be fixed or improved along the way.

That's exactly why we test.
