"PERFECT SUMO PRIEST"

in #write6 years ago

Today I want to talk about our beloved Savior. The Scriptures teach us that Jesus came to this world as a human being, that is, made flesh. God sent his only begotten Son to this earth in order to experience firsthand what each one of us lived.
Formerly so that the people of Israel could talk to God, approaching God was done through a priest chosen by God. The priest was in charge of asking forgiveness for the people and for him, and offered sacrifices to atone for the sins.
All this was the shadow of what was to come, Jesus Christ. Jesus came to truly fulfill the demands of our Heavenly Father. His impeccable life led him to be the author of eternal salvation and appointed by God as the High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek, that's why today's sermon I have titled "PERFECT HIGH PRIEST". We are reading Hebrews 5: 7-10. Let's see what our savior did in the final moments of his sacrifice, to become "PERFECT HIGH PRIEST", Jesus:

I.- DIRECTED THE FATHER.

This prayer and supplication had a specific motive that is saved from death. Now if God's plan was for him to die, why do you ask me to save him from it? Because here it refers to eternal death, which is freed from it and resurrected, thus overcoming death. Jesus did not hesitate in the face of physical suffering or death, but before the indescribable agony of carrying over himself the sins of humanity. However, he did not hesitate to fulfill his Father's will.
The Word says that He offered prayer and supplication with strong cry and tears. This episode refers to the prayer of Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane. The author of the Hebrews presents tremendous pathos of that drama, and adds the detail of the "strong cry and tears", which makes us see the prayer of Jesus as a screaming cry, not like a meek and silent running of tears.
Wau that suffering and agony of our Savior, those moments were terrible and all endured for the love of this lost humanity.
The verse adds that the supplication and the cry made "Him who had the power to save him from death." It is addressed to whom he has to go, from whom he would receive the unconditional support, which was his Heavenly Father. He did not meet with his disciples and began to tell him how bad and terrible that moment was and what he felt, but directly to the Father. A teaching for us today, many times we go and ask for help to whom we do not have to do it and we forget who has the solution: What is God.
Continuing in verse "he was heard because of his reverent fear", all the time Jesus sought the will of the Father, did nothing without his consent, was always willing to submit to Him, and the answer is evident, His Father heard him.
Here we see his career as a dependent man, living in obedience to God, and sharing all human emotions that are not related to sin.
The prayer of Christ was not that he could be saved from death, in the end, dying for sinners was precisely his purpose in coming into the world. His prayer was to be delivered from eternal death, and that his soul was not left in hades. In those difficult moments, the Word of God tells us, that an angel appeared, to strengthen our savior. Luke 22: 43 and 44
I believe that God listened to his Son and gave him that bitter drink, which was death. The Scriptures reveal to us that it was with the great power of God that He raised Jesus; where all the evil forces opposed. What a great victory, Jesus Christ overcoming death through his Father. In 2nd place Jesus was:

II.- OBEDIENT.

Although he was the eternal Son of God, it was necessary that, as an incarnated Son, he learn to obey, because he was called to obey to an extent never reached before. The temptations he faced were real and the battle was difficult, but where Adam failed and fell silent, Jesus resisted and defeated. Teaching for us today: resist and overcome with Jesus Christ.
Children always disobey their parents, but of this, says the Word that did not disobey, although sometimes it was difficult for him to obey, because of his human condition.
Although he was a Son, he was not a son, that is, one of many, but he was the only begotten Son of God. Despite this immense fact he learned obedience for what he suffered. His entry into this world involved him in experiences that he would never have known if he had remained in heaven. Each morning his ear was open to receive instructions from His Father. He learned obedience in the experimental sense, as the Son always subject to the will of His Father.
It is our depravity, our pride, our desire for independence, which makes obedience painful. These principles did not exist in the mind of our Savior. Learning obedience means, in this case, no more or less having knowledge, not merely intellectual, but experimental knowledge of what it means to obey.
Just as our savior received instructions and did the will of the Heavenly Father, so we must seek to do his will daily. In 3rd place Jesus was:

III.- PERFECTED:

This does not refer to His personal character. Because the Lord Jesus was absolutely perfect. His words, his works and his ways were absolutely impeccable. In what sense was it perfected? The answer is that it was in His office as our Savior. He would never have been able to become our perfect Savior if he had stayed in heaven. But through his incarnation, death, resurrection and ascension he completed the necessary work to save us from our sins, and now he has the glory of being the perfect Savior of the world.
Jesus is our perfect Savior, providing eternal salvation to all who obey Him.
Our Heavenly Father declared him High Priest of the order of Melchizedek. It should be mentioned that, although the priesthood of Christ is of the order of Melchizedek, however, its priestly functions are similar to those performed by the Aaronic priests. In fact, the ministry of the Jewish priests was a premonition of the work that Christ was going to carry out. Christ did his redeeming work once and for all; becoming the car of eternal salvation.
The priest does not have to ask for forgiveness for the people and for him, Christ did the work and now everyone has free entry to the throne of grace and we can enter directly to the Father and ask for forgiveness through that perfect work of Jesus. The veil broke in two and now we enjoy that great blessing of that sacrifice.
What a wonder, Jesus is the High Priest, to Him be the glory and the power and the honor. God bless you.
