The story beyond the prompt
Built in the seventeenth century, the rulers of this fort possessed vast wealth, including diamonds, jewels, gold bars, and other precious items. Over time, the rulers' laziness and power struggles largely depleted the treasury. At the behest of senior ministers and dignitaries, a very loyal and honest treasurer was appointed to safeguard the remaining treasure.
A rule was also established that anyone taking anything from this treasurer had to obtain the permission of four members of the palace staff. In the future, only the treasurer's descendants would be the guardians of the treasury.
Gradually, the influence of the fort's rulers diminished, and all the members either died or moved abroad. No descendants were interested in living in this dilapidated, haunted place.
Over time, the fort was taken over by the government's Archaeological Department, and human activity there was now minimal. Even the last generation of the fort's owners had no knowledge of any treasure or treasure. There wasn't much left there anyway.
However, the Treasurer's current generation knew the location of the treasure and its contents because their ancestors had passed this information down from generation to generation.
Steve, the head of a government library, had read a diary inherited from his father, which stated that his grandfather, after all his descendants had passed away, had stolen treasure from the castle and spent it on debauchery. This information in the diary deeply troubled Steve, who feared that any investigation would expose it, potentially landing him in jail.
One day, coincidentally, Steve was in the part of town where Timothy's garage was located, and his car had developed some trouble. While showing Timothy his car, he noticed that Tony and police officer David had also come to the same garage to get their cars repaired. He also noticed that Timothy, David, and Tony were very close friends.

Upon returning, a plot came to Steve's mind. First, he befriended Tony, the weak link between them, and spent time with him. He plied him with alcohol several times and offered him money. Then, after completely entrapping him, he included him in his plan. In exchange for a large sum of money, he asked Tony to tell Timothy that the treasure was still hidden in the fort.
Steve had read many mysterious stories in the library and knew that Timothy, with the help of his friend David, would surely find the treasure. And they would find what Steve wanted to show them, because Steve already knew all the routes to get there. Steve wanted to somehow blame his great-grandfather's crime on someone else and hold someone else responsible for the theft.
And as Steve had planned, Timothy and David found an old diary in a wooden box that Steve had placed there.
According to the diary, the treasure theft was blamed on Roddick D'Souza, a wealthy man in the city and a high-ranking government official who had tried to prevent Steve from becoming a librarian.
Steve wanted revenge on him, and he was also resentful of D'Souza's wealth. He thought that by pointing fingers at him, the investigating agencies would quickly assume he had stolen the treasure because he was so wealthy. This way, he could cover up his great-grandfather's mistakes and take revenge.
But the investigating agencies conducted a forensic examination of the diary, and everything soon came to light. The investigation quickly revealed all the secrets, and the conspiracy was exposed. Both Steve and Tony were sentenced to three years in prison. Later, Tony's sentence was reduced to one year due to his age.
And thus, the search for the treasure that never existed ended.
