TWO OPPOSITE POLES
TWO OPPOSITE POLES...
Machiavelli wrote that "It is better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both." But, Aristotle said "No one loves the man whom he fears." How can anyone be both feared and loved?
You see, you may not be able to control who loves you because love can be a choice, but fear? no one controls that except you. You can make yourself to be feared than just loved.
Love is vulnerable to deceits and treachery. It's safer to be feared because when you are feared, no one is bold enough to betray a feared man. but guess what? a loved man can be betrayed easily.
Don't crave for everyone's love, because it's scarcely possible. Create an atmosphere of fear, it lasts longer. Just strive not to be hated, for hate will destroy your brand but fear will build it.
Nicollo Machiavelli in his book, "The prince" believes that you can't be love and feared at the same time, truly you can't.
Love makes you lose guard and lose respect too, never be in a hurry to be called "dear " instead of 'Sir' or 'ma '. If you insist on getting love, make sure you instil fear first.
This fear should not confuse us, it's nothing negative, but an extreme regard and reverence which puts people under check.
Notice that almost immediately you lower your guard by allowing someone come too close, abuse and insults begin almost spontaneously, you were safer when you were addressed Sir than when pet names started drizzling in.
In business, one who fears you will fear trading with you. He will not buy on credit, but can you say the same of love? absolute no!
Even the gods will find it hard to think and fall in love, hence the need to separate business from pleasure. If your partner for instance patronizes your business without paying, the business will crash sooner than imagined.
I really agree with Machiavelli that it's better to be feared than love.
