Feels like a political allegory of the invisible classes of the oppressed that do the necessary dirty work and are only given a 'token voice' to appease them by the ruling classes.

I see. When I wrote my comment, I though you had shared a dream. Rereading, I noticed this is actually a story. It feels dreamlike. :)
